| Summary: | Among the obstacles faced by workers seeking new jobs is the lack of adequate transportation. This transportation obstacle is also faced by people leaving welfare and generally by those who reside in inner city and rural areas.
The Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) is focused on developing successful, affordable and transferable methods and strategies for assuring needed transportation in support of local initiatives at One-Stop Centers and other job development activity centers, especially those focusing on the needs of dislocated workers. At a minimum, the application must demonstrate the participation and approval of each of these programs at the local level. Funding will only be made available for planning, technical assistance or development activities to selected projects which show a high probability for success in coordinating transportation services among agencies responsible for the provision of transportation, job development and family assistance. No expenditures will be allowed for operation of a transportation program or for capital expenditures.
