SUBJECT:Welfare-to-Work (WtW) Program Extension
Purpose:To transmit the notice of approval for the extension of WtW program for two years.
Summary:On December 21, 2000 President Clinton Signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2001 which included, along with the Department of Labor's FY 2001 appropriations, a two-year extension to the WtW program.

According to the US Department of Labor (USDOL) all grantees, both competitive and formula, will be eligible for the extension of their grants.

USDOL expects to publish formal guidance to States on how to apply for extension within the next 30 days.

Action:Program providers and administrators should examine how the possible extension will affect their programs. Once further guidance is issued by USDOL on the extension, NYSDOL will provide technical assistance to local providers.
