Welcome to the Department of Labor’s Workforce New York web site!  New York State has a vision of a highly skilled workforce, prepared by a system that readily connects businesses and job seekers and fosters economic growth.  The Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions oversees the implementation and development of New York 's workforce development system and administers programs that have businesses and job seekers as primary customers. 

This site provides information to businesses, workers and job seekers that will enable them to access and better understand the system.  It also provides access to information, technical assistance, resources and funding opportunities that will enable local workforce investment area staff, one-stop partners and other workforce professionals to help build a better workforce development system.    

UI Warning

We have learned of persons or companies that may charge a fee to help customers complete or file Unemployment Insurance claims. They imply that they have a connection to the NYS Department of Labor. THIS IS FALSE. We provide free copies of the forms that these companies may offer for a fee.

The State Labor Department does not want our customers to be fooled by these claims. Customers in New York State should continue to file their claims for UI through our web site or by phone. There have been some delays recently at our call centers due to a high volume of claims, but we take all claims in the order they are received. Using a paid service to file your claim will not ensure faster handling.
