- State Board discussed at length the status of local WIA implementation across New York State. Board members expressed concern about those areas that were in the initial phases of WIA implementation and what impact that would have on the State’s movement toward an integrated delivery system. The Board chose to express in writing its concerns to those particular areas with the notation that the State Board stood ready to assist in helping that local area achieve the necessary steps toward initial compliance.
- A presentation was given to the State Board on Occupations, Skills, and Worker Training. Presentation included data on the fastest growing occupations in New York State, occupations with the highest turnover, the types of skills that training tends to be centered around, how skill needs and skill deficiencies can be identified and how to achieve skill upgrading. The purpose of the presentation was to prepare the board for future discussions around criteria for incumbent worker training initiatives. Board members asked if this data could be presented on a localized basis, in addition to the statewide focus of the piece and members were assured that the data, on request, could be regionalized or localized for local use.
- Board members reviewed a meeting schedule which has been finalized and is posted on this website.
